Leech therapy is suitable for many health conditions. Matt Isaac in his book "Leech Therapy" lists the following applications:
RESPIRATORY
Bronchitis, pulmonary heart disease associated with chronic obstruction of the lungs and bronchial asthma, obesity hypoventilation syndrom (aka Pickwickian syndrome), heavy pneumonia with difficulty breathing, arteries with thrombosis in the lungs, tuberculosis accompanied by blood vomiting.
URINARY
Pyelenephritis with hypertension syndrome, hypostases (the settling of blood inrelatively lower parts of an organ or the body due to impaired or absent circulation), chronic nephritic syndrome, cystitis (urinary bladder inflammation).
MUSCULOSKELETAL
Arthritis, Tendonitis, Radiculitis (pain associated with nerves stemming out from the spine, usually due to inflammation).
DIGESTIVE
Hemorrhoids, pancreatitis, homostasis in the liver, cirrhosis, cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder), chronic inflammations in the abdominal cavity.
CARDIOVASCULAR
Asystole, Raynaud's disease, high blood pressure, lymphostasis, ischemic heart trouble, stenocardia, pre heart attack symptoms, heart attack (heart spasms, blood clots), inflamed blood vessels, poor blood circulation, heart muscle disease, obliterative arterial disease, bliterative thromboangiitis, tropic ulcer (of veins and arteries).
OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY
Inflammatory conditions, complications during the postnatal period, problems with mammary glands and forms of mastitis, thrombophlebitis (inflammation of a vein caused by a blood clot) of the pelvic region, toxicosis during pregnancy, menopause.
DERMATOLOGY
Scleroderma, eczema, lupus, toxidermia, chronic form of dermatitis, psoriasis, erysipelatous inflammation of the skin.
OTOLARYNGOLOGY
Acute and chronic pain of the auditory nerve constant noise in the ears (tinnitus), acute and chronic otitis (ear inflammation), auditory canal infection, antritis, inflammation of frontal sinuses, inflammation of cells in the ethmoid bone.
